Portland Shibari Salon is an inclusive and consent-forward space nestled up in the Southwest Hills area of Portland, Oregon.

Jonathan Ryan
International rope artist Jonathan Ryan (Seattle Shibari) performs on stage, ties for photoshoots, and teaches the art of Shibari worldwide. He has taught & performed for sold-out audiences in 15 countries and 24 cities, including Paris, Rome, Tokyo, Barcelona, London, Shanghai, and Los Angeles. He draws on 20 years of professional work in education, specializing in curriculum design and differentiating instruction for diverse learning styles.
Traveling yearly to Japan for continuing immersion in his own studies, Jonathan meshes a distinctive and constantly evolving blend of Western & Eastern aesthetics & perspectives in his interpretation of the art. Jonathan holds a high level teaching license awarded to him by Hajime Kinoko of Tokyo, Japan, and works to spread appreciation for this beautiful art via his website SeattleShibari.com.
Sappho
Sappho is an unabashed lover of rope who brings expertise in Latin dance forms and a spirit of sensual inquiry to her kinbaku. She has taught & performed in Asia, Europe, and the Americas, where she is noted for her insights into rope, both physically and psychologically.
A practicing physician specializing in neuro-anatomy, Sappho expertly combines a dancer's awareness of physical movement with her extensive professional knowledge of the body. She is passionate about sharing this knowledge with others. Together with Jonathan, she directs activities at the Portland Shibari Salon.
