Portland Shibari Salon is an inclusive and consent-forward space nestled in the Southwest Hills area of Portland, Oregon.
Jonathan Ryan (Seattle Shibari) is the lead instructor at the space, ably assisted by Sappho, who co-teaches with him at workshops. Jonathan has taught numerous sold-out workshops, and teaches & performs internationally. Tying since 2011, Jonathan holds a high level teaching license awarded to him by Kinoko Hajime of Tokyo, Japan, and works to spread appreciation for this beautiful art via his website, SeattleShibari.com.
Sappho is an unabashed lover of rope who brings expertise in Latin dance forms and a spirit of sensual inquiry to her kinbaku. She and Jonathan have taught & performed together internationally for several years, where she is noted for her insights into bottoming in rope, both physically and psychologically. Sappho combines a methodical analysis of physical movement with a deep knowledge of neuro-anatomy in her approach to rope bottoming, and loves to share this knowledge with others.
We welcome all people of good will and intent.
Portland Shibari Salon is a lovely space featuring two tying rooms with hardwood floors, ample floor space for up to 10-15 tying pairs, and 8 suspension points.
We have a full bathroom and shower.
The secret treasure of Portland Shibari Salon is our amazing panoramic view of the city skyline! This photo was taken from the long exterior balcony where folks can relax during workshop breaks or just hang out during a rope jam.
